Metropolitan celebrates Sacrum Triduum

The Metropolitan of Europe, His Grace Archbishop Jerome Lloyd OSJV offered the Divine Liturgies of Holy Week and Easter according to the traditional (i.e. pre-1955) rubrics of the Tridentine Rite at the Brighton Oratory this year accompanied by almost one thousand Daily Mass Online viewers in addition to the faithful present. The full horarium began with a Vigil service on the eve of Palm Sunday, a daily Mass through the week and for the Sacrum Triduum the Offices of Tenebrae (Mattins/Lauds) and None in addition to the Divine Liturgy of the respective day, concluding of course on Easter Sunday. Viewers watched from across Europe with emails of appreciation being received from all over the continent as well as further afield globally, even some of those attending had travelled great distances to participate in the liturgies.

Assisting His Grace was recently ordained Deacon, Andrew Scurr who preached during Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Maundy Thursday and officiated at his first Praeconium during the Easter Vigil, singing the Exultet for the very first time in his Sacred Ministry.  Deacon Andrew was also privileged to be invited to participate in the Ecumenical Good Friday Act of Witness with over one hundred Christians from Churches Together in Central Brighton, reading the first of a selection from the Gospel accounts of the Passion. 2013collage
